It is now widely accepted that performance in school can be seriously affected by poor or irregular attendance and it is therefore school policy to encourage excellent attendance rates.
The school is obliged by law to maintain accurate attendance records.
If your son/ daughter is absent from school you are asked to phone the school to let us know.
If a student is absent without explanation an automated calling service will attempt to contact you in order to ensure the student’s safety.
Where a student's attendance record gives rise to concern, the school will invite parents/carers and student to an informal meeting to discuss the grounds for the concern. If this fails to resolve matters, the school will involve the Council's Attendance and Liaison Officer, who may offer the family direct support or become involved with school staff in a formal School Review Group meeting to which parents/carers and student may be invited.
