S2 – FITNESS FOOD AND FUNKY FABRICS
INTRODUCTION
This Home Economics course will focus on developing knowledge and skills.
The introductory topic will look at cookery skills, processes and techniques as well as safety in the kitchen and home.
Further topics will look at developing practical skills and increasing knowledge.
AREAS OF STUDY
• Introduction to cookery skills, processes and techniques
• Technology in the Kitchen
• Foods of the World
• Happy Hats Fabric Topic
• Basic First Aid
• Healthy Eating
• Design and Make Food Topic
The coursework will involve written activities as well as practical tasks. There will also be the opportunity for visits from outside speakers.
ASSESSMENT
At the end of each topic there will be an end of topic test and practical skills will be assessed at various points across the course.
PROGRESSION
The work covered in this course will allow students to have a good understanding of many of the topics covered in Intermediate 1 Hospitality in S3 and Intermediate 2 Hospitality in S4/5/6.
