Alternative Olympics at Dalbeattie High School – Working in Partnership
On a recent Wednesday afternoon S1 pupils at Dalbeattie High School participated in an ‘Alternative Olympics’ event hosted by Dumfries & Galloway’s Community Safety Partnership. All S1 pupils were eager participants and scored well at a range of physical, mental, and teamwork challenges that included: Dynamic Youth Award, Quizzes based on Health and Wellbeing issues and Dalbeattie, Downhill Skiing and Balloon Darts Xbox games.
One of the most popular events was the ‘Mummy Game’ where pupils worked in pairs to create the most striking mummies by wrapping each other using just a roll of toilet paper! The event was facilitated by Community Learning & Development Stewartry, NHS Health & Wellbeing Officer and D & G Crime Prevention Officer in collaboration with High School Staff.
All participants received a certificate of attendance and winners received high street vouchers courtesy of Dumfries & Galloway’s Community Safety Partnership. Overall winner: Ami Shaw £30 voucher, 1st Runner up: Jordan Rain £20 voucher and 2nd Runner up: Shaunnie Stephen £10 voucher. Congratulations to all who participated!
